French term

attaque ronde

French to English Other Wine / Oenology / Viticulture
"Une belle robe rubis, un nez généreux, ouvert aux notes de cuir, ce millésime laisse en bouche une attaque ronde aux tannins mûrs et bien fondus"
From a text in wine making - I am unable to get the general meaning of the first part of the sentence.

round attack, round on the attack

For your specific term, "attack" is employed in English wine-tasting terminology. Otherwise, here are some sources of terms and inspiration.

"Robe" describes the colour ;
"Nez" describes the smell (the word "nose" is used in English too) ;
"Note" what about "tone"? (Sounds musical!), "leathery tones" ;

Good luck.

a round attack

Hello bharq!
Here is the explanation of your text. Do not hesitate telling me if you need any further information/explanation as this is a field I often work in and can handle but it is not easy to know what someone has problem with when you are too familiar with the terms yourself.
This choice wine has a beautiful ruby-red colour, is strong in smell and is open to findings of leather flavours (that is notes or hints of the chemicals used in leather preparaing : colours and etc, as well as a strong animal skin smell). When you taste it the first strong tastes you will experience will be those round (that is almost buttery and quite strongly felt, they are not just a hint, they are there well defined/present) of tanin, well matured (that is strongly felt)and smoothly found all over when you make the wine go round your palate.

Is that understandable to you? Otherwise hit on my proz ID and i <will try to explain it better.
