I am not sure if I am linking this phrase into the sentence very well.
The text is some kind of LONG article on a sculptor. A lot of the text at this early point is still quite poetic (it becomes less so), and I am losing sight of the wood/trees here already with all the metaphors I have just been unravelling ... so:
The context reads:
"[The SCULPTOR] est un ami de Philippe Jaccottet. Cela suffirait presque à dire son amour de la forme, de la chose pure. Comme le poète, le sculpteur sait la simplicité du monde et sa grande élémentarité, celles que garantissent les patientes récoltes et les lentes Semaisons."
My version so far is:
"Antoine Poncet is a friend of Philippe Jaccottet. That would be almost sufficient to imply his love for shape and purity. Just like the poet, this sculptor understands the world's simplicity and its great elementariness, guaranteed by patient harvests and slow crop planting seasons."

I'd put sowing first,since that comes before harvesting and I think we stick more with time logic in English and I'm stealing Abraham's "unhurried" which is really nice.

"La Semaison a pour épigraphe la définition du mot semaison dans le Littré : « dispersion naturelle des graines d'une plante »" - so seed dispersion rather than crop planting. An interesting translation challenge. I'll sleep on it.

I won't dare to translate such a nice text but I can see a couple of things missing... If my comments can help... if not just ignore them. I have no problem with that ;-)
