this is a strange phrase, i can't really make out what the second part is supposed to mean. i talked to my cunhada brasileira who works with fashion and she said that the sentence "não faz sentido". could you give me more context? unless of course you just wanted the first part which i gave above. good luck!

just to clarify, model means the shape or style of the skirt, not the girl

hi there, thanks that does help a bit. The full sentence is "Com tantas e tao díspares referências, as silhuetas tanto tinham de curto, como de seguida podiam resultar em longas e esvoaçantes saias". Hope that helps a little more. Thanks in anticipation.

were so short

the silhouettes wre so short that one could make long skirts out of them( figurative sense)
