It's amazing, Transl8, After reading your explanation, I realize most music I hear around here lately fits exactly into the same definition. Main objective is to entertain, zero musicality, extremely basic harmonic structure. These describe what sells in Brazil today: sertanejo, axé, pagode and funk. When I was young music existed. Now, I'm not sure anymore.

Pimba music Pimba is a musical genre characterized by their humorous lyrics. The main objective of the genre's artists is to entertain and they don't care too much about being musically complex. In fact, pimba has an extremely basic harmonic structure in most of the cases. Some of the instruments used in this genre are accordion, cheap rhythm boxes and synthesizers as well as electric guitars (although the guitar work in most of the songs is very simple). This genre is very popular in Portugal. Many pimba artists regularly give concerts on TV shows as well as in local festivals. Pimba is always present in the festivals of the Portuguese rural areas.

Música Pimba A typical Portuguese type of popular music. I don't think this exists elsewhere, or that it should be translated at all. We don't translate names like "samba", "frevo" or "fado", why should we translate "pimba"?
