You' re right. The singular form really baffles, buit both forms are grammatically correct. It is better to use the plural form since it sounds less strange. You can see some nice comments on this matter as follows:

It looks like the text is referinng to the control of the airflow or airconditioning or aircooling. I found this term at http://air.1800anytyme.com/info/air_conditioning_glossary.ph... which although is not a direct translation of "oculo" seems to possibly fit the context.
