Portuguese term
Alimendtandos
Portuguese to English
Bus/Financial
Law: Taxation & Customs
Brazilian Tax Return
It's a category on the tax return from Brazil. It comes after the category "Dependentes".
I'm assuming it has something to do with people the tax payer is responsible for to provide food/support.
I found this explanation on the Internet; not too sure about the source, but it sounds good -"Segundo a definição juridica - O alimentando é alguém que o contribuinte não tem a guarda, mas paga pensão alimentícia. O alimentando e diferente de dependente, este é alguém que é diretamente ligado ao pai e a mãe pela guarda judicial."
Do we have a term for this in the US? Or could it be "Other Dependents" or something like that?
Thank you for your input.

Other persons receiving support
"Alimony" won't work because in the US that is presumed to refer only to former spouses. "Child support" which is the associated term in the US "being required to pay both alimony and child support" won't work either, apparently, based on the definition you found. "Persons receiving support payments" or "OTHER persons receiving support payments - choice depends on whether the situation already mentions alimony and/or child support - this would be better than "other dependents" although it amounts to the same thing

Comment: "I used "Other persons receiving support payments", since, as Donna mentioned, it did have a category for Alimony/Child Support.
Thank you Donna for your much appreciated help."

Alimony recipients
Pensão alimentícia is alimony, although this includes maintenance fixed by the court for children, and not just payment to former spouses.
Discussion
(b) dependente é a pessoa, geralmente filhos, esposa e outras pessoas de quem se possui a guarda judicial (netos, sogros etc).
