Portuguese term

carrega o piano

Portuguese to English Social Sciences Human Resources
Hoje valoriza-se demais os jovens recém formados e esquece-se de valorizar quem realmente "carrega o piano".
Desconfio de pode existir uma expressão idiomática específica para esse termo. Alguém conhece?

We are free to blame the federal government, third party payors, and even patients for our problems. In the end, it’s wasted energy without salient action. Those actually doing the heavy lifting for our profession are too busy to complain.

I just thought that it was about time I received the worldwide attention I so desperately crave, um, I mean deserve, um, I mean work so hard for -- by HELPING OTHERS just like I did for the people of Vieques. It's weird that wherever I seem to go, I BECOME THE STORY and those actually doing the "heavy lifting" get shoved to the back of the bus.
