Discussion
I simply used photo recognition software of the "Salongo" and the most appropriate species match was the New Zealand - United Fisheries - Home of New Zealand's Finest Seafood site (very informative) hence no direct reference to the salongo (which, given the physical characteristics it certainly appears to be). I've got no problem about points - the most important thing is that the asker is provided with the most appropriate translation.
On the other hand, Teresa's link, http://www.lotacor.pt/docs/lista_especies_acores_lotacor.pdf
does provide a clear connection between "salongo" and the Latin name.
So I think it would be fair for Teresa's suggestion to be awarded the points, if you agree, of course ... ;) There is no doubt that "she got there first"... Fair play!
I contacted MARE Centre in Lisbon, and they suggested I search the Fish Base. Teresa beat me to it ;)
But they were very helpful: http://www.mare-centre.pt/pt/contact
