French term

pallier aux transits de marchandises en Europe

French to English Other Textiles / Clothing / Fashion Manufacture
Context: France-based clothing company has their R&D office in HK and production site also in Asia, but uses only European materials. Referring to this set-up, the sentence to be translated is:
"Ces deux plateformes permettent ainsi de pallier aux transits de marchandises en Europe"

What I am unsure about:
Are they saying that the two platforms allow them to get around transiting the goods in Europe?
Because this would seem odd to me.

I am just not sure I understand this correctly and I'm hoping someone who has experience with these kinds of procedures might be able to clarify it for me!

Thanks very much

My deadline is today I realise the question might have been either too specific, specialized, or maybe even silly. Unfortunately I've had no answers so far and the deadline is today. Can I then get your opinion(s) on whether my translation seems accurate if you just look at the wording of the original sentence? thanks to anyone who would care to throw in their 2 cents' worth! A few opinions are better than one!

yes, maybe, but
a) I thought you said they use materials from Europe, so won't they need to get those out to Asia - materials or part-finished goods?
b) above you say that the idea you suggest sounds odd -?
Perhaps you can phrase it so it sounds ambiguous- ?!
Note from asker:
It's not too late and I'm grateful for your answer as I was starting to feel all alone! :) I have a different take on the meaning of the sentence though: Exporting goods from Europe to Asia involves a transit period in Europe of about 6 weeks (I believe). I think then that they simply mean manufacturing in Asia totally cuts out the transit period and they are free to distribute straight away.
I know... your a) is partly what confuses me too. I think the idea is unclear, possibly due to word count limitations on the original article.
Something went wrong...
