| It's just that the equipment in question is an air core reactor so I didn't see what on earth that could have to do with a de-icer so assumed it couldn't possibly be that..... |

: The second reference in French is not about de-icing, but removing the smooth finish (glaçage), French for de-icing is rather "dégivrage"; however I have no better idea to suggest

Thanks Phil. "Deglaze" makes me think of pouring liquid onto the crust on the bottom of a frying pan to produce a sauce.
