However, in my example, the liquid transfers heat to the perfusate. I don't think 'warmant' would do, somehow

Interestingly, those are the TWO terms given for "fluide caloporteur" in the HVAC Dictionary of the Federation of European Heating and Air Conditioning Associations.
They also give "FRIGOporteur", a word I have never encountered in anger, and THAT is given as "coolant".

: I'd go for Andy's "heat transfer fluid". "heating fluid" is too specific (it heats and cools simultaneously in a transfer), and we're not sure it's an oil.

: Strictly speaking, the fact that it is 'caloporteur' does NOT necessarily imply that it is a good conductor of heat, just that it has a high specific heat capacity; but sadly, the term 'conductor' is often used inaccurately!
