Is this "formation water"?

The area is oil and gas but I'm an environmentalist, so we're dealing with how to get rid of the stuff...

It first comes up as part of a definition of "eaux de production" (produced water):
"(elles) comprennent les eaux de gisement ou de condensation, séparées dans les installations de production...

It's also the stuff they have to reinject if its salinity is above 10 - 15 g/l.

Any help appreciated...

formation water

At least that's what given in Moreau & Brace's Dict. of Drilling and Boreholes published by Editions Technip, which is one of the dictionaries I tend to take at face value without further investigation.

aka eau de formation

agree John Fossey : This is the term used in the industry, for water within the reservoir, befor it has been brought up to the surface, after which it is "produced water".
