Just looked in the AFNOR dict.
"Espèce contaminante" is given as "contaminant". Would that fit your context???
Possibly foreign bodies in gas or liquids?

Discussion
The three phase project has equipped it with THOR thermohydraulics code, the true market standard, for modelling the primary cycle, the secondary island (main steam circuit, turbines, extractors, condensers, water feed), the transport des espèces, the enceinte de confinement and ventilation and air conditioning systems.
while a lot of the simulation work involves introducing malfunctions, this list seems to be one of basic systems (ie working properly)
