WWW is being audited as it is in a rocky financial state and wishes to find the road to recovery.
Un directeur en charge du ***contrôle général*** sera l'interface entre la direction de la WWW (mining company) et ZZZ (financial consultants/accountants)
Would this be something like "general supervision" or is there a specific term?

Don't exclude financial control
Since the interface is with the financial consultants, maybe this is the company's financial comptroller, the one at the top, in charge of general financial control, as opposed to underlings looking after specific functions. Is WWW large enough for this to be the case?
I take it you don't have the director's name for Googling.

Note from asker:
This guy works for the company being audited with a view to putting it on the road to recovery. He is also the "Coordinateur de la mission d'audit stratégique et organisationnel" carried out by the consulting company. Thanks for the google tip - forgot about that! Our man is mentioned as a former "gestionnaire" of the mining company... |

general audit or inspection
If this is in a financial context, then I would use audit. However, in a more general context, I would use "inspection".
