At first I translated it as 'located at the external flight control module', then changed it to 'located external to ......' and then back again. I'm getting more confused by the minute and have to admit that I don't quite get itsmeaning. I'm tempted to just translate it as 'located at the flight control module' but I may be completely off.
I'd appreciate if someone could shed some light on this. Many thanks in advance.

If I understand it correclty, this refers to screens on the OUTSIDE of the cockpit/control module. I do not think that "located at the external flight control module" is correct at all.
