On the FdS in front of me, it is referred to as 'personne recevant les soins', and is as distinct from the 'assuré' (the insured party), which may or may not be the same person.
I would have thought patient / insured party would have made exactly the same distinction

: care recipient is more for somebody getting outside services, not necessarily directly medical services, ie not doctors or nurses but maybe somebody in a convalescent home, for example

I agree it's a more general term, but in the links provided they're actually talking about medical treatment.

I'm not saying "patient" is wrong but it does mean "malade/patient -ente" whereas the term beneficiary is a legally correct term.
