French to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing

Hello everyone,

I'm translating a document for a factory that processes meat products and the section that I'm currently working on deals with different options that are displayed on the computer screens of various workstations.

This section is entitled:
Returning items to the workshop

and the next line is:

Sur un écran tactile, après *badgeage* du nom de l’opérateur pour identification :

and then the text describes the steps the operator takes to carry out this procedure.

I'm really not sure how to translate "badgeage" but obviously it appears to be a way for the operator to identify himself (by swiping a ID badge maybe?)?

I found a few websites in French and English describing "terminaux de badgeage" which is translated as "biometric fingerprint readers" in English, but that doesn't make sense because in the text, it specifically mentions the operator's name...

I would greatly appreciate any help!
