French term

niveau de fonctionnement (financial context)

French to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) Financial results
In a financial report for a two-month period, insurance company, Canadian French to Canadian English.

Ce résultat est principalement attribuable à une sinistralité défavorable en raison des conditions climatiques difficiles. Cela se traduit par un ROE cumulatif de XX %, dans un contexte de capitalisation supérieure à notre *niveau de fonctionnement*.

Any help/explanation much appreciated.

Thanks!

agree rkillings : Or better, scrap the nouns and use verbs. The excuse they're offering is "we were capitalised to operate at a higher level" :-(

disagree Daryo : "capitalisation" (= amounts in $) supérieure à notre "niveau de fonctionnement" (must also be in $) // "operational efficiencies" = "rapport entre... " i.e. a ratio - you can't compare % and $$$$
