Being for Pressure Equipment Engineers, it is more likely to be vitrified clay pipes (and variations thereon).

glass-walled equipment

Does the handbook give any clues as to what such equipment might include?
Note from asker:
Later in the document it states that pressure equipment that is "vitrifies" has internal walls covered in "email" which I assume is some form of enamel. Does this help? Could "vitrifie" be a more general term?
