French term

faisceau double capteur vitesse triple

French to English Tech/Engineering Aerospace / Aviation / Space Purchase contract
The above is in a list of parts to a Purchase Contract for speed sensors on helicopters. Unfortunately I have no more context than this for the term.
TIA for any input.

other items the other items are mainly like this (combinations of faisceau and capteur vitesse...), I'm going to post a couple more

@ Asker It might help to look at other items on the list.
From faisceau, I'd understand a wiring loom or harness; and capteur vitesse might well be a speed sensor; what is harder to know is which bit is double and which bit is triple! I suspect it is for some reason a double harness for a triple sensor — but it would be good to have corroboration of that! You might find other corresponding items, like a connector, for example, which might give you some clues.

double wire harness triple speed sensor

It seems logical that they mean a double wire harness for a triple speed sensor: this gives enough redundancy so if any one item fails, safe flight is assured.

Speed sensors are more likely to fail (see the Turkish Airlines crash in The Netherlands or a crash in the Dominican Republic 8 (?) years ago) than wires so it figures that you build more redundancy in the sensors. Moreover, if one sensor doesn't fail completely but gives false values, comparison with the other two can indicate which is at fault.

Sounds completely logical...

neutral Tony M : Yes, but double wiring harness — otherwise it would sound like one harness made of double wires, which is probably less likely.
