In Figures 6, 7, and 8, we show sections taken from another
rat heart sectioned in the sagittal plane. In these figures,
sections were again immunolabeled for Cx43, shown in
green, and caveolin3, shown in red.

Immunolabeled sections viewed at higher magnification
showed that Cx43 labeling was undetectable in the atrioventricular
rings, retroaortic node, and aortic ring but was
seen in the atrioventricular node as fine punctate spots,
being distinct from the large spots of labeling corresponding
to the large intercalated discs of the working myocardium
(data supplement, Figure S36).
