What is an Individual Voluntary Agreement (IVA)?
An IVA is a less formal procedure open to individuals who are experiencing solvency problems. The procedure is governed under The Insolvency Act (1986). It is a legal process that enables the individual to reduce the amount of money they owe, stop any further interest charges and reduce the monthly payments they have been making. The procedure is extremely flexible and varies from case to case.

Din pacate, legea romana privind falimentul nu prevede nici un astfel de acord, ci un plan de reorganizare prin care debitorul impreuna cu creditorii pot propune un plan de reorganizare si continuare a activitatii prin care se dispune fie vanzarea debitorului, fie lichidarea (este vorba de persoanele juridice). Legea se aplica si persoanelor fizice in calitate de comercianti, insa nu in calitate de persoane individuale, asa cum exista in alte tari.
