Frequency stepping: Matching low frequencies first and then updating higher frequencies.
 Matching the directly-transmitted wavefield (diving-wave FWI), before incorporating kinematic information from the reflected wavefield (reflection FWI).
 Initially focusing on the phase of the wavefield (i.e. the kinematics which is sensitive to lower wavenumber velocity changes), before incorporating more amplitude information (i.e. the dynamics, which are most sensitive to the high-wavenumber perturbations).
