I set off into the world to seek my fortune
This is what we’d say in English – it has a deliberate fairy-tale feel to it (“seek my fortune”). Otherwise, a slightly similar character I can think of is Dick Whittington (and his cat).

...the Dull John is really up to you....

I have purposely stuck to my original going out into the world, because it often implies 'going out where it is really happening' or 'going out into the (real) world.

...a lépe by znělo with JUST a bag ...etc.
with just a small bag -meaning that she just grabbed a few things and went off

Suma sumarum: endnotes, footnotes vylučuji. Musím to zapracovat do dané věty. Takže budu volit jednu z vámi nabízených odpovědí.
well, I suppose one should call them endnotes if one puts them at the end of the chapter, right.

Ten preklad vám nehorázne závidím, musí to byť strašne zaujímavá práca.
They are characteristic phenomenon of the Czech cuisine which appears even in a number of national fairy tales when Dull John (Hloupý Honza) goes explore the world with a bundle of buns, frees a princess from a dragon and then marries her and gets half of the kingdom as a reward. It is a bit unfair to the smart young men but doesn´t it work the same way in the real world sometimes?
