Traducció - Anglès Andrea Dovizioso analyses the secrets of Mugello
The Repsol rider, classified third in the MotoGP World Championships, arrives at one of his favourite meetings in the calendar, the always spectacular Italian Grand Prix at Mugello.
For Andrea Dovizioso, the Mugello Circuit is one of the most beautiful and difficult in the world. It is a circuit famous for its wide track, numerous direction changes, pronounced gradient changes and physical demands. Although, additionally, if there is anything which makes the Italian Grand Prix unique, it is the passion with which the tifossi follow the races from the Tuscan hills in which the azure track nestles. With two podiums in three races and clear progress in the Repsol Honda Team, Andrea Dovizioso arrives at the fourth meeting of the championship in top form, with ambitions to once again be up there amongst the fastest at his home Grand Prix.
Main straight
A special point of the Mugello Circuit is before entering the first turn, on the straight, where there is a change of gradient. You reach it at more than 330 km/h and the front wheel, at least when you ease off a bit on the throttle or touch the rear brake a little, throws you. It is very difficult to control the bike at such high speeds because there is also a small direction change before braking and the adrenalin gets pumping.
Turn 1
The “San Donato” turn is very difficult because the track is really wide and allows many different lines when taking it. You enter at high speed, going downhill and the exit is uphill.
Turns 2 and 3
After the uphill section you get to the first “ess”, “Luco – Poggio Secco”, which is a very problematic zone because of the compressions on the suspension. There are a lot of small potholes which lead to a lot of vibration. You need to take it smoothly, to let the bike run and always keep a high cornering speed.
Turns 4 and 5
The second “ess”, “Materassi” and “Borgo San Lorenzo”, is slower and has a much more simple line because you try to keep the highest speed possible and not allow the engine revolutions to drop too much.
Turns 6 and 7
On entering the downhill section of “Casanova – Savelli”, a historic point at which there is the most atmosphere and at which the people from the fan club arrive a week in advance to reserve their place and fight tooth and nail to protect it. It is a very difficult “ess” because you have to brake on the downhill which is always more difficult, make a direction change, still on the downhill, and exit well in order to prepare for the “Arrabiata 1” turn.
Turns 8 and 9
“Arrabiata 1 and 2” are two of the most beautiful and most difficult turns of the circuit and of the whole World Championships. At “Arrabiata 1” you enter on the downhill up to the mid-turn point, and then the uphill begins, where you run at very high speed until entering “Arrabiata 2” which I think is one of the most beautiful corners in the world. It is a blind corner, on the uphill, with a very high painted kerb – you can’t go over it -, and you have to open up on the gas intuitively, without any reference point, because you can’t see the exit of the turn. It is very difficult to push hard at this point.
Turns 10 and 11
After a gradient change, you get to the “ess” called “Scarperia – Palaggio”, an “ess” at which you also have to keep up a high speed, being very careful again with the potholes which make everything even more difficult.
Turn 12
Entering on the downhill into “Correntaio”, a very long right-hand turn in which you have to stay well to the inside of the track, because the downhill pulls you towards the outside. At the exit, you have to really tuck in to prepare for the following “ess”.
Turns 13 and 14
The “Biondettis” are very difficult turns, very fast, with a lot of potholes which take you to the last corner.
Turn 15
“Bucine” is perhaps one of the most difficult turns there are because the entry is on the downhill and while you are in the turn, it’s a very long left-hander, you keep going downhill until the straight. You have to get a good line because you are almost at the straight which is really long and extremely important for setting fast times.

Traducció - Anglès The XXXX Foundation completes its tree planting project in Valencia
The 2010 Motorcycle World Championships draw to a close at the now customary venue of the Valencia Grand Prix. To mark the event, the tree planting project undertaken by the XXXX Foundation – on the Iberian Peninsula and in Haiti – took another step this Thursday morning. The World Championship visit to the Valencian track made it possible to plant 1,000 trees in the surrounding area, just as was carried out at the Jerez, Catalunya and Aragón circuits.
On the inside of turn 3 of the Valencian track, at 12 o’clock, the first trees were planted for the project, on this occasion with the collaboration of the Valencian riders from the Motorcycle World Championships, Héctor Barberá, Julián Simón, Nico Terol and Jorge Martínez Aspar himself. They wanted to do their bit for the XXXX Foundation Project, added to which were the 80cc World Champion, Champi Herreros and the Ricardo Tormo Circuit Director, Julio García. Just as the Repsol riders did in Jerez, the Spanish journalists in Catalunya and the Dorna team in Aragón, some of the most important representatives from the world of motorsports in Valencia wanted to participate in this special initiative, helping to plant the first trees at the Valencian track.
This project plans to plant 1,000 trees at the circuit and in the surrounding area, at the same time, it will offer the fans the chance to plant a tree at home with a kit containing everything necessary, endorsed by the Environmental Programme of the UN.
For each kit, via a donation, another tree will be planted in Haiti and all funds collected shall be given to the agro-forest development project, also in Haiti, in collaboration with Solidaridad Internacional.
This social initiative of helping towards the development and recovery of the Environment includes the collaboration of all the professionals involved in the World Championships (riders, technicians, commissioners, press, etc.) who, together with volunteers and specialists, have participated in the planting that began at the Jerez circuit at the start of the season.
The objective of the programme is to plant 29,000 trees in Spain of varying species such as poplars and ash and the same quantity of local species in Haiti. In total 58,000 trees will be planted. The XXXX Foundation’s promise of help for the reconstruction of Haiti will make the planting of trees a basic part of the recovery of the country: to provide fruit, agricultural food supply, construction materials and sustainable fuel for the local population.
This rural development project in the Pichon, Belle Anse municipal sector in the south-western area of Haiti, is trying to improve the standard of living. The different activities of the project include the cultivation of plots of land, the rehabilitation of agricultural routes and education in response to natural disasters. The planting in Haiti is planned to begin in 2010 and continue during 2011.

Traducció - Anglès Victory for Marc Coma in the Rally of Sardinia
The Italian island of Sardinia has, for the last five days, been the venue for the third event of the Raids World Championships, won by Marc Coma. Leader from the first special stage, the Repsol rider dominated the race with an iron grip from its first moments, setting a pace and level of riding which, despite navigation difficulties, no other competitor could match.
The preliminary stage of the 2010 Rally of Sardinia began last Thursday in Olbia, in the far north of the island, in which 77 riders set out with the aim of fighting for victory in the unique Italian event. 1.690 kilometres later, after five days of competition and nine timed sections, Marc Coma has again reached the highest step of the podium at the controls of a KTM EXC 530 after a race which, as usual, was notable for riding and navigation difficulty on the mountainous Italian tracks, always very technical, narrow, windy and with many paths and tracks which make orientation difficult.
Preparing for the first stage, Coma finished in sixteenth place the initial three kilometres against the clock, a strategy which the following day enabled him to start from behind and overtake his rivals, to dominate the two specials of the day. Despite the rain on the second day and having to be the first out, the Repsol rider remained the leader of the race with almost a four-minute advantage over the second placed rider.
The third day, Coma took the second of the specials and the overall stage, extending his lead in the overall standings on a day dominated by navigation difficulties. Difficulties which occurred again in the fourth stage, which took place yesterday, in which Coma managed to secure a new victory in the longest timed section of the rally – 195 kilometres -, being the first out and, at the end of the day, gaining an advantage in the standings of more than twelve minutes, prior to today’s stage.
Set in forested areas, along rough tracks littered with stones and and the firebreaks typical of this rally, Coma won one of the two specials of the day, confirming his final race victory. The Repsol rider has overcome his unresolved issues in the best possible way with a race from which a year ago he was knocked out by a fall whilst leading the event, demonstrating once again his talent at the controls of a bike, his navigation skills and his ambition to strive for the highest level of performance.
Marc Coma,
“I’m very happy. With myself, with the team, with the people who support us and with all the sponsors who make all this possible. I would like to dedicate this victory to a person very special to me, Luca Manca. I really appreciate all his support, his help and the way he is. It´s been a really complicated rally, most of the stages were very technical, needing real focus on navigation, and that didn’t make this victory easy. We’ve been very consistent and I believe that as a team we’ve done a great job. There´s the result. I’m leaving the island with a good feeling. Thanks to everyone!”
