I have undergraduate degrees in both Information Technology and Visual Arts. I particularly enjoyed the art theory subjects in visual arts and my written work always received excellent grades.

After university I began work in computing first as a programmer and later as a systems support person for computer graphics and visual effects for film and television.

I then became a teacher of academic English and worked at a university English centre, which gave me an excellent foundation in grammar and linguistics.

In 2003 I moved to Spain and taught English here for several years. Many of my students were academics or teachers and I was often involved in the correction of English for a range of different fields from neurology to electrical engineering to astrology.

In 2005 I began studying and working in translation and in 2008 passed the challenging Institute of Linguists Educational Trust (United Kingdom) exam for the Diploma in Translation for Spanish to English, having successfully completed the general, business and science papers.

I have worked with a reputable Barcelona translation agency (both in-house and freelance) for almost four years and I also worked in-house at a Spanish international management consulting firm for a year, which strengthened my knowledge of business.

I now work freelance for several agency clients located both inside and outside of Spain.

Initially the main translation work that I did was from Catalan and the main subject areas were environment and education. I have now also completed many IT projects from Spanish to English and several general projects of social/cultural interest from both Catalan and Spanish to English.
