Text d'origen - Anglès All Jimmy Martinez could hear as he gained consciousness was a methodical swoosh, swoosh, swoosh. He opened his eyes and saw only black. His heart began to race. I’m blind. Oh God no—I’m blind. Jimmy’s head was pounding, making it nearly impossible to think clearly. What the hell happened last night? He opened his mouth to ask if anyone were there, but words would not come. He realized suddenly that he was cold—icy cold—his legs, arms and torso freezing. His body was tingling, half asleep. Where am I—and why is it so damn cold in here?
Blinking back the darkness, Jimmy finally saw a sliver of light. The light grew brighter but was blurry, a cold white blade slowly penetrating his head. He closed his eyes again—so tired—and his head hurt so bad. He half remembered something, but his head felt heavy, thick. Anniversary. Mojitos. Too much to drink. My beautiful wife Elena…so lovely. Damn—can’t think. Only pieces and parts.
Clarity faded. Jimmy’s eyelids grew heavy, and he fell back asleep.

Britain, Spain and Belgium as key targets of expansion.
"We're of course examining external growth opportunities ... This means building on our positions when we're already present in a country, and to develop in new countries," Pierre Gadonneix told the state-controlled company's annual shareholders meeting on Tuesday.
Gadonneix stopped short of naming the companies the French nuclear power giant
covets in Britain and Spain.
British Energy said on Friday it has received several takeover proposals valuing it at
more than 10.8 billion pounds.
EDF is already present in Britain through its wholly owned subsidiary EDF Energy, but the acquisition of British Energy would strengthen its presence and put it in the forefront of Britain's new drive towards nuclear power.
In Spain, EDF has admitted holding discussions with lberdrola shareholder ACS on a
possible takeover, but has said nothing further on its intentions after facing strong
opposition from Iberdrola's management.
EDF will dedicate more than 35 billion euros (27.8 billion pounds) in the 2008-2010
period to build on its business positions in Europe, Gadonneix said.
EDF gave more details on its plans regarding Belgium, where Gadonneix said it had
made an offer for the 57 percent stake that Suez is selling in Distrigaz.
Gadonneix also confirmed EDF's interest in Gaz de France's 25 percent holding in Belgian electricity group SPE.
Suez and Gaz de France are selling the holding as part of their proposed merger, which is expected to be completed in coming weeks.
Earlier this month, a source close to Nicolas Sarkozy told Reuters that the French
President had urged Belgian authorities to treat EDF in the same way as other potential buyers of Distrigaz after Brussels voiced worries that an EDF deal may lead to a domination of the Belgian energy sector by French groups.
EDF shares closed down 0.1 percent at 45.30 euros, outperforming the rest of the
European utilities sector, which finished the session 1.04 percent lower.

Los que conocían a Fernando Pombo siempre han dicho de él que tenía una capacidad natural de liderazgo. Ya desde su juventud él no escogía ser el líder de una nueva iniciativa o proyecto, eran los que le rodeaban los que acababan por encomendarle esa labor. Siempre preocupado por los demás, era grande en el arte de escuchar y de hacer sentir a su interlocutor en el centro de la conversación. Ese interés genuino por las personas, que le hacía valorar lo positivo frente a los defectos del prójimo, era lo que lo engrandecía y lo convertía de forma natural en un gran líder.
Fernando Pombo García, nacido en Santander el 31 de marzo de 1943 en el seno de una familia de ocho hermanos vinculada al derecho, fundó en 1971, conjuntamente con Ignacio Gómez-Acebo ─fallecido el pasado 27 de marzo─, el despacho de abogados que hoy lleva sus apellidos.
Fernando fue un notable estudiante y excepcional abogado. Estudió Filosofía y Derecho en las Universidades de Oviedo y Complutense de Madrid (1965) y cursó el doctorado en Ginebra —con el profesor Martin Achard— y en el Instituto Max Planck de Múnich con el profesor Friedrich-Karl Beier (1970-1971). Contaba, además, con estudios universitarios en Dundee (1978) y en el Europa Institut de Amsterdam (1979).
Fue profesor invitado del Instituto Internacional de Estudios Legales de Salzburgo (Austria), en colaboración con la Universidad del Pacífico - McGeorge School of Law (Estados Unidos) (1985-2011), y habitual conferenciante en instituciones universitarias como la Sorbona de París y otras de Florencia, Montpellier, Georgetown, Fordham y Harvard, principalmente.
Tras más de veinticinco años en cargos ejecutivos dentro de la organización, durante el bienio 2007-2008 fue presidente de la International Bar Association (IBA), la asociación internacional más grande de la abogacía ─agrupa a más de 45.000 abogados de más de 200 países─. Durante su mandato al frente de la IBA centró sus esfuerzos, entre otras cosas, en asegurar que la organización continuase siendo el núcleo universal de aprendizaje y formación de los abogados, y con este fin buscó el modo de estimular al resto de las asociaciones para que utilizasen ésta como foro de discusión de los temas más relevantes para la abogacía mundial.

Those who knew Fernando Pombo have always said of him that he had a natural capacity for leadership. Even from an early age he did not choose himself to be the leader in new initiatives or projects, it was the people around him who ended up choosing him. Always concerned for everybody else, he knew well how to listen to his interlocutor and make him feel the centre of the conversation. This genuine interest for people, that made him value the positive aspects rather than the defects of his neighbour, was what ennobled him and naturally turned him into a great leader.
Fernando Pombo García was born in Santander on the 31st of March 1943 into a family of eight siblings that was closely related to law. In 1971, together with Ignacio Gómez Acebo -who died on March the 27th-, he founded the law firm that bears his surname.
Fernando was a remarkable student and an outstanding lawyer. He studied Philosophy and Law at the Universities of Oviedo and Complutense de Madrid (1965) and did a doctor's degree in Geneva -with professor Martin Achard- and at Max Planck Institute in Munich with professor Friedrich-Karl Beier (1970-1971). He also took university courses in Dundee (1978) and the Europa-Institute in Amsterdam (1979).
He has been guest professor at the Salzburg Law School on International Criminal Law (Austria), in collaboration with University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (USA) (1985-2011), and regular lecturer at academic institutions such as the Sorbonne in Paris as well as in Florence, Montpellier, Georgetown, Fordham and Harvard mainly.
After more than twenty-five years in executive positions within the organization, during the biennium 2007-2008 he was president of the International Bar Association (IBA), the biggest international association of lawyers -it has a membership of more than 45,000 lawyers from more than 200 countries-. During his term of office in charge of IBA he strived, among other things, to ensure that the organization continues to be the universal core of learning and training for lawyers. With this aim, he sought a way to encourage the rest of associations to make use of it as a discussion forum about the most relevant issues for lawyers worldwide.

My name is David and my origin is somewhere in Andalusia. Born in Algeciras (Cádiz), I grew up in Jaén where I studied a degree in English Literature. I spent a few months as an Erasmus student in Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK) and, after getting the Spanish teaching certificate at the University of Granada, I settled in Catalonia.
In Barcelona I did a master in translation studies at University Pompeu Fabra that awakened my interest for fields like localization, automatic translation, simultaneous interpreting or subtitling.
Languages, new technologies, electronic music and independent films are some of my greatest passions and I understand life as a constant learning process.
