Class this Saturday May 2, 2011

Thanks for register for this class. If you're not sure about the start time, you can use this tool: www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc

Remember that this is a three-hour-long course and we have a lot to cover. Using Studio or any other application during the online class will probably be too distracting, so I ask you to focus on what's going on in the training.

Remember that this is a three-hour-long course and we have a lot to cover. Using Studio or any other application during the online class will probably be too distracting, so I ask you to focus on what's going on in the training. Also, the SDL Studio Training for translators is divided in three parts (Getting Started, Intermediate and Advanced) and there's an additional session for Multiterm. For this reason, I can't answer all the questions asked, specially if they're going to be covered in other classes. Please, understand that.

This class will be in English but if you're interested in a Spanish class, you can send your request to me or to the moderators.

Switching languages in a TM and course material May 9, 2011

Thank you for attending Saturday course 'Getting Started for translators'. The objective of this course is to teach users of Studio how to open, translate and review documents for the first time. Because of the number of features, it's impossible to cover everything in one session--that's why the online session has to be complemented with the workbook, which is available on your SDL My Account. If you haven't received the link yet, please contact Proz.

I was asked how to switch languages in a TM. Here's a very useful presentation put together by Valerij Tomarenko: www.slideshare.net/valtom/sdl-trados-two-tms-for-the-price-of-one.

The next couse is SDL Trados Studio 2009 Intermediate for Translators and it covers the following topics:

* Wizard-based preparation of multiple files
* Automated project preparation
* Using multiple translation memories
* Find/replace functionality
* More on the Display Filter function
* Merging and splitting segments
* Automated Quality Assurance (QA)
* Fine-tuning format filters for Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents
* Translation memory settings: TM fields
* Filtering translation units
* DTP processing: translating Adobe InDesign and FrameMaker files in SDL Trados Studio 2009
* Generating AutoSuggest dictionaries
* Customizing keyboard shortcuts

Have a great week.
