If you press Maj and F3 together, the selected text changes from lower case to upper case to just first letters capitalized.

AutoHotKey script

Trados doesn't have any shortcut to change the case, but I install AutoHotKey (a freeware) and I've create a AutoHotKey script to change the case.
Here is the script: ;—————————————————————————— ; Change the case of a whole segment in Trados Studio. ;—————————————————————————— !z : : Send ^a Sleep 300 Send +{F3} Return
following this script, to change the case, just do ALT Z

I take it "Maj" is French for a key. Is it the shift key you mean?

Sometimes I want to capitalize the first letter in every segment out of hundreds or even thousands because I feel bad about paragraphs that start with a lower-case letter: they seem lonesome to me. And I get tons of such paragraphs whenever I get to review a big document. I want a smart way to do this, but the only technique I know is to do as many find and replaces as there are letters in the alphabet. Can't call it a smart way

You can either work directly in the xliff with an advanced editor like Notepad++, BBEdit, or use the advanced Find and Replace feature of Trados itself.
In both cases you will need a regular expression that replaces any letter at the start of every segment with the uppercase of the found letter:
