I receive 95 % of all files for translation as ttx, and that is from several different customer!

might just beat Word by 1 or 2% (each approx. 35%); then prepared ITD (= SDLX: 10%), the remaining 20% go in more or less equal parts to the other formats.

But I would say is 50-50% with PDF.
And, talking about this, anyone here already done a .dwg file (Autocad)? I work in a translation agency, and lately they’re accepting a lot of documents like this. I’ve complained with my coordinator, and nothing. Today, I received other .dwg documents, and complained again, now with the general manager. I am missing any kind of translation trend, or the Commercial Dept. just went crazy? =P

I received most of my translation assignment from clients in PDF formats. I think they like using PDF for technical and security reasons.
My inhouse translation assignments tend to come in Word format, so that's great.

This is the case for me also. But I do stipulate that a word version be sent along with the PDF.
However, that is probably because I do not use translation software.

Why was "paper" not there?
Speaking of electronic documents, MSWord is the clear leader for me, but overall I think my best assignments and best income come from paper documents.

Indeed, as other people who have answered, increasingly other formats than Word, mostly in TTX format. In fact, we use TagEditor with Word files as it works better and does not damage format as sometimes Trados does while working in Word. About 35% of our work comes in FrameMaker.

Format is quite a problem. Unfortunately, more often than not documents for translation are coming as uneditable and bad quality scans. This leaves no opportunity for using CAT tools and is very harmful for eyes. It is really strange that such happens in the 21st century.

True. A lot of my in-house work is given to me as paper -- even handwritten! -- otherwise as a Word file.
My freelance assignments, on the other hand, largely consist of PDFs or MP3s.

Maybe it is because I translate a lot of games and they usualy use Excel or editor. But I do prefer Word!

I regularly receive pdf's which are scans, that cannot be turned into 'writable' documents, such as Word, sometimes even bearly readable. Sometimes, that is a problem.
