法蘭西學院人文及政治科學院終身秘書Jean-Robert Pitte，以及在座各位院士、各位貴賓，大家午安。很高興今天能夠以臺灣國家人權委員會主委的身分，會同國家人權委員會田秋堇、葉大華、蘇麗瓊三位委員，一同來到歷史悠久的法蘭西學院拜訪、交流，這是臺灣國家人權委員會成立後，第一次來到歐洲拜訪、交流，因此我感到十分榮幸，也十分高興。也很高興今年9月由Pitte先生帶團前往臺灣參訪，並接受蔡總統授與勳章，我想這是臺法關係重要的里程碑，也加深臺法之間的友誼與交流。
Monsieur Jean-Robert Pitte, Secrétaire perpétuel de l’Académie des sciences morales et politiques, Mesdames et Messieurs les Académiciens, Mesdames et Messieurs, bonjour. Je suis très honorée d’être présente ici en tant que présidente de la Commission nationale des droits de l’homme. Je suis accompagnée par trois membres de la commission: TIAN Qiu-jin, YEH Da-hua, SU Li-qiong. Nous sommes tous très heureuses de pouvoir venir au prestigieux Institut de France. C’est le premier voyage en Europe effectué depuis la création de la Commission nationale des droits de l’homme en 2020. Je me sens très honorée et je suis très contente. Monsieur Pitte s’est rendu à Taïwan avec sa délégation, et a été décoré par la Présidente Tsai en septembre 2022. Je pense qu'il s'agit d'une étape importante dans la relation franco-taïwanaise, et que cela permettra également d'approfondir l'amitié et les échanges entre la France et Taïwan.
● Prix de la Fondation culturelle franco-taïwanaise
En 1996, lors de la première élection présidentielle directe de Taïwan, la Chine a menacé et perturbé l’élection présidentielle en lançant des essais de missiles dans le détroit de Taïwan. La même année, l’Académie des Sciences morales et politiques de l’Institut français et Taiwan ont créé le « Prix de la Fondation culturelle franco-taïwanaise », qui est le premier et le seul prix signé par l’Académie avec une institution étrangère. Nous tenons à remercier non seulement l'Institut de France, mais aussi tous ceux qui ont soutenu ce prix, y compris Monsieur Pitte, Secrétaire perpétuel de l’Académie.
Depuis qu’il est devenu président du jury du « Prix de la Fondation culturelle franco-taïwanaise » en 2017, M. Pitte a identifié de nombreux candidats exceptionnels afin d'encourager davantage de chercheurs et d'experts européens à s'engager dans l'étude de la culture taïwanaise. Grâce au soutien des académiciens, les échanges culturels entre la France et Taïwan se resserrent aujourd'hui dans les domaines du cinéma, de la littérature, de la bande dessinée, des arts technologiques et du spectacle vivant.
● La démocratisation de Taïwan
Bien que Taïwan ait connu trente-huit ans de régime autoritaire, de 1949, date à laquelle la loi martiale a été imposée, jusqu’à 1987, où la loi martiale a été levée, la poursuite de la démocratie, de la liberté et des droits de l'homme n’a pas reculé. Ces épreuves ont rendues les Taïwanais encore plus fervents dans leur poursuite. J'ai été l'une de ceux qui ont marché avec ce mouvement démocratique.
J'ai été condamnée à mort par le gouvernement de l'époque en vertu de la loi militaire en 1979 après l’Incident de Kaosiung. Plus tard, grâce à la pression et à l'aide d'organisations politiques et des droits de l'homme étrangères et taïwanaises, ma peine a été commuée en 12 ans. Je suis restée en prison pendant six ans et deux mois. Quand je regarde en arrière, l'Incident de Kaosiung a eu un impact profond sur les progrès de la démocratisation à Taiwan.
● Éducation aux droits de l’homme et créations artistiques sur les sites historiques de l’injustice
Après la levée de la loi martiale, la démocratisation de Taïwan ne s'est pas arrêtée. Finalement, en 2000, le premier changement de partis politiques a été réalisé, brisant la réalité politique de la domination d'un seul parti depuis 1949. Enfin, 20 ans plus tard, nous avons créé la Commission nationale des droits de l'homme (CNDH) en 2020, conformément aux Principes de Paris.
La CNDH promeut activement également l'éducation aux droits de l'homme, en portant les droits de l'homme au niveau culturel afin de sensibiliser et de populariser le concept des droits de l'homme.
Par exemple, les espaces historiques utilisés par l’ancien régime autoritaire pour la torture et les procès sont préservés et transformés en lieux culturels, tels que le Musées des droits de l'homme. Ou encore, les histoires des prisonniers politiques sont adaptées en littérature, films, musique et pièces de théâtre pour sensibiliser et toucher le public d’une manière plus douce. Nous souhaitons que le sujet des droits de l'homme puisse susciter des participations du grand public et facilier les échanges transgénérationnelles. Cette manière de transformer les espaces historiques ou d’utiliser les ressources du passé est aussi une création artistique qui s'appuie sur le patrimoine culturel unique de Taïwan.
● L’amitié franco-taïwanaise
La « Déclaration française des droits de l'homme » et la devise républicaine de « Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité » sont depuis longtemps ancrés dans le cœur des Français. Elles constituent également la fondation de la création de la République française, et elle porte une influence mondiale. C’est un modèle à suivre pour Taïwan. J'espère sincèrement qu'à l'avenir, il y aura davantage de canaux et de domaines pour promouvoir des échanges plus concrets entre la France et Taïwan, pour défendre les droits de l'homme et la politique démocratique, pour favoriser le développement de la recherche académique et pour développer la culture et la liberté artistique.

Source text - French PROBLEMATIQUE ET JUSTIFICATION DU PROJET
De nos jours, il y a une volonté manifeste notamment du côté de l'Etat haïtien pour améliorer ou renforcer la production rizicole dans le pays. L'une des principales stratégies est de parvenir à l'autosuffisance semencière. Ainsi, des efforts de taille sont déployés pour pallier à la disponibilité de semences de qualité qui constitue pendant longtemps un facteur limitant à l'accroissement de la production rizicole (quantitative et qualitative) en Haïti. Toutefois, l'objectif idéal n'est pas encore atteint en ce qui a trait à cette disponibilité mais de sérieuses avancées y sont déjà réalisées surtout du point de vue qualitatif.
En effet, avant la mise en œuvre dudit projet, cette production était de 15% par rapport à notre besoin. Avec la première phase du projet, elle touchait la barre de 50%. Aujourd'hui, avec la deuxième phase, elle tourne autour de 80%. Toutefois, avec cette dernière, l'objectif de départ était fixé à 100% ou même de dépasser ce pourcentage au cours de cette année. Mais 1’instabilité politique, les contraintes budgétaires de l'Etat haïtien, la remontée des actes de banditismes ou 1’insécurité grandissante particulièrement dans les aires d’intervention du projet. .. nous empêchent d'y aboutir sans oublier 1’impact de la rareté périodique de carburant ; celui-là n'est pas à sous-estimer. Par ailleurs, le secteur agricole en général et la filière de riz en particulier, souffre de l'absence d'un cadre légal régissant la production de semences. A noter, plus d'une dizaine de variétés locales sont exploitées dans la Vallée de l'Aitibonite sans homologation.
De plus, les services de mécanisation agricole se limitant uniquement aux travaux de préparation de sol ne sont ni organisés, ni accessibles. La Vallée de l'Artibonite, bassin de production du riz par excellence, ne dispose pas d’équipements de mécanisation en quantité suffisante pour garantir l'accroissement de la productivité, d'où une pression croissante exercée sur le Projet REPONSE. Dans le cadre de la Caravane du Changement du Gouvernement haïtien qui vise une augmentation de la SAU en riz (ciblant environ 50,000 hectares dans la Vallée), la demande en semences de riz de qualité aura doublé. L'offre de services de mécanisation déjà insuffisante devra normalement répondre à une demande qui suit une courbe ascendante.
Devant un tel contexte, le MARNDR se propose à l'Ambassade de la République de Chine/Taiwan par le biais de l’ICDF/MOFA, non seulement, de poursuivre ses activités de renforcement des capacités de production de semences de qualité mais aussi de renforcer le processus de la mécanisation agricole dans la Vallée de l'Artibonite, les périmètres du projet en particulier, sur une période de 5 ans (2022-2026). Autrement dit, vu les objectifs fixés qui deviennent de plus en plus ambitieux, le renouvellement du projet s'avère plus que nécessaire et évident d'où, la phase III du projet RECAPSRIH correspondant à la phase II du projet REPONSE SPA intitulée : « REPONSE SPA II » , alors, c'est le même projet avec certaines modifications. Du coup, on renforcera la pérennisation des activités.

Aux termes d'une offre acceptée le 07.06.2017, la SOCIETE GENERALE a consenti à Monsieur Jie WANG et à Madame Cong XUE, demeurant 202 Block 52, 1728 WULIAN ROAD à SHANGAI 2000129 (Chine), un prêt immobilier d'un montant de 245.000 € au taux de 1.60 % l'an.
(pièces n°l, 2).
Par acte séparé du 23.05.2017 et comme le mentionne le prêt, la Société CREDIT LOGEMENT se portait caution de Monsieur Jie WANG et de Madame Cong XUE auprès de l'organisme prêteur au titre de ce contrat de prêt, (pièce n°3)
Toutefois, Monsieur Jie WANG et Madame Cong XUE ne se sont pas acquittés régulièrement des échéances dudit contrat de prêt et la déchéance du terme a donc été prononcée, conformément à l’article 12 des conditions générales du prêt.
En effet, les mises en demeure adressées par le prêteur les 08.02.2023 et 21.02.2023 à Monsieur Jie WANG et à Madame Cong XUE sont demeurées infructueuses, (pièces n°4 et 5)
La Société CREDIT LOGEMENT en sa qualité de caution, a été amenée à régler diverses sommes au titre de ce contrat de prêt entre les mains de l'organisme prêteur, à savoir :
les échéances impayées des mois d’avril à juillet 2022, soit la somme de 3.995,52 €, ce dont elle justifie par la production d’une quittance en date du 25.07.2022 (pièce 6),
les échéances impayées des mois d’août 2022 à février 2023, ainsi que le capital restant dû à la date du prononcé de l'exigibilité anticipée, soit la somme totale de 206.427,01 €, ce dont elle justifie par la production d’une quittance en date du 17.05.2023 (pièce 6 bis).
Les lettres de relance et mises en demeure adressées par la Société CRED1 f LOGEMEN I à Monsieur Jie WANG et à Madame Cong XUE les 21.07.2022, 10.08.2022. 17.08.2022. 22.08.2022, 29.08.2022. 02.09.2022. 08.09.2022, 31.10.2022. 02.11.2022, 09.11.2022. 17.1 1.2022, 09.01.2023 et 12.05.2023 sont également demeurées infructueuses (ensemble pièces n°7 et pièce 8).
Suivant décompte arrêté au 04.07.2023. Monsieur Jie WANG et Madame Cong XUE restent devoir à la Société CREDII LOGO MENT, qui agit à leur encontre sur le fondement de l'article 2308 nouveau (2305 ancien) du Code Civil, la somme de 211.074.09 € (pièce n°9).
CREDIT LOGEMENT公司于2022年7月21日、2022年8月10日、2022年8月17日、2022年8月22日、2022年8月29日、2022年9月2日、2022年9月8日、2022年10月31日、2022年11月2日、2022年11月9日、2022年11月17日、2023年1月9日、2023年5月12日，向 Jie WANG 先生和 Cong XUE 女士发出催复函及催告通知，均未见效（同附件7、 8）。

What Classic Spiritual Discipline Needs the Most Renewal Among American Christians?

In learning the spiritual disciplines practiced by ancient leaders of the faith, we also learn discernment. We need different disciplines at different times. Like apprentices in the master's workshop, we must learn what work is most needed and what tool can best do the job. One tool particularly useful to us today is the discipline of fasting.
Christians in America often express two deep desires. We long for a community where we know we belong. Stretched by fast-paced work, a high-tech social life, and a constant flood of information, Americans feel fragmented and alone. We ache for home.
At the same time, our hearts also cry out for justice. We who have experienced God's love know that this same love connects us to child soldiers in Africa, sex slaves in Asia, and the stranger on our block. More than any time since the late 1800s, justice has become a rallying cry, especially among young evangelicals.
But even as we long for our true home and the justice that makes for peace, we struggle to act each moment on our truest desires. We are often consumed by anxiety about image, fear about the future, and desires for cheap comfort and instant gratification. A thousand forces conspire to distract us from our truest desires every day.
For this reason, I'm convinced that fasting is the spiritual discipline we most need to renew today. In his most famous sermon, Jesus talks about fasting immediately after his introduction of the Lord's Prayer, suggesting that the former should be as common as the latter. Before Jesus began his public ministry, the Gospels tell us, he fasted for 40 days in the wilderness.
In the early church, if anyone in the fellowship was hungry, it was common practice in some places for the whole community to go without until they could supply their brother or sister's need.
Today we who are used to grabbing a snack when we feel the slightest pang of hunger are not sure how to receive the blessing that belongs to "those who hunger and thirst for righteousness" (Matt. 5:6). Self-denial seems so puritanical. Why not just go ahead and take care of our own needs so we can love and serve others to the best of our ability?
The practice of fasting helps us get in touch with our truest desires. It is not mere self-denial, but rather an earnest preparation for the feast of beloved community. The Baptist radical Clarence Jordan used to say, "[F]asting is the opposite of slowing"; it is a "speeding up toward the kingdom." Just as an Olympic swimmer shaves to reduce drag in the water, followers of Jesus strip themselves of excess baggage and forgo meals now and again for the sake of rushing ahead toward the new creation that God is giving us even now.
Fasting also reminds us that a true feast is made not by plentiful food, but by plentiful fellowship. As Dorothy Day used to say, "Heaven is a banquet and life is a banquet, too, even with a crust, where there is companionship." Those who learn to hunger and thirst for righteousness are blessed because they will be filled—not with the cheap comfort of the passing moment, but with the true Bread that satisfies.

Their first studio release in November
2019, Flow, Gesture, and Spaces,
not only proved to listeners in both
spheres of j azz and exper imental
music in Taiwan that such a drastically different pairing of sonic elements
could be achieved, but also how an
album could adhere to its theoretical
source material in both sound and
methodology. The album also went
on to receive several nominations at
the Golden Indie Music Awards and
the Golden Melody Awards, while
winning Best Album Producer for the
Instrumental Category.
Building on their previous success,
their sophomore effort, titled Meta,

Gnostics also held a negative view of the physical or material world. Early church fathers, such as Irenaeus, deemed Gnosticism heretical.
Introduction
Gnosticism shared some characteristics with Judaism and Christianity, but remained markedly distinct from either. Traditionally, Gnosticism was thought to have emerged from within Christianity (Smith, No Longer Jews, 18–25). Recent scholarship, however, has acknowledged that Gnosticism may have been an existing belief that only later came into contact with Christianity (Pearson, Ancient Gnosticism, 11; Smalley, 1, 2, 3 John, 44).
Origins and Definitions
Origins of the Term
The earliest example of a group being described as “gnostic” comes from the work of Irenaeus, a second-century Greek church father (Pearson, Ancient Gnosticism, 9), who described certain groups of heretics as the gnostic heresy. Henry More coined the modern term “Gnosticism” in the 17th century to describe the heresy of the church in Thyatira (Rev 2:18–29; Pearson, Ancient Gnosticism, 9).
Definition of the Term
The term “Gnosticism” may be an inadequate description of “the great variety of phenomena attributed to it” (Logan, The Gnostics, 1) because it elicits “misleading generalizations and unwarranted stereotypes” (Smith, No Longer Jews, 8). Williams has argued that the term reflects a “dubious category” which should be dismantled and abandoned (Williams, Rethinking “Gnosticism”). Pearson has likewise acknowledged that there is a “bewildering degree of variety” in the historical expressions of Gnosticism (Pearson, “Gnosticism as a Religion,” 89).
Pearson argues that Gnosticism is purely a historical term used to classify religious features that are “clearly distinguishable from anything that is found in Christianity, Judaism, or other religions of antiquity” (Pearson, “Gnosticism as a Religion,” 95–96). Therefore, Gnosticism should be defined as a descriptive category arising from historical observations rather than a prescriptive system of unilateral belief.
The Church Fathers and Gnosticism
The church fathers of the second century and later condemned gnostic teachers and beliefs as heretical. Church fathers who spoke against gnosticism include the following people:
• Justin Martyr’s (ca. 100–165) lost work Compendium against the Heretics (mentioned in Justin Martyr, First Apology 26) included arguments against Simon Magus and his disciple Meander, who came to be seen as proto-gnostics. In the brief discussion in his First Apology, he says that the followers of Simon Magus worshipped him as a god and that Meander persuaded his followers that they would not die (Justin Martyr, First Apology 26).
• Hegesippus (late 2nd c.) mentions as heretical a variety of gnostic groups and traces their origin back to Simon Magus; an excerpt of his work is preserved in Eusebius (Ecclesiastical History 4.22). In this passage, Hegesippus does not describe the teachings of the gnostic groups in detail but says that the founder of each group introduced his own opinion and that their teachers divided the church with doctrines against God and his Christ.
• Irenaeus of Lyons’ (ca. 140–198) main work, Adversus haereses (“Against Heresies”), is dedicated to refuting Gnosticism.
• Hippolytus of Rome’s (ca. 170–235) work Refutatio omnium haeresium (“Refutation of All Heresies”) argues against 33 gnostic groups, as well as against some non-gnostic groups.
• Eusebius of Caesarea (ca. 260–340) devotes a chapter of his Ecclesiastical History to gnostic groups, whom he rejects as false teachers (Ecclesiastical History 4.7). For the most part, he does not describe or specifically refute their teachings in this section; however, he states that the gnostic teacher Basilides invented prophets who had never existed, and that the gnostic followers of Carpocrates required those who wanted to become full participants of their mysteries to practice various forms of wickedness in order to escape what they called the cosmic powers.
• Epiphanius of Salamis’ (ca. 310–403) work Panarion (“Medicine Chest”) contained arguments against various heresies, including gnostics.
In addition, Origen and Tertullian wrote against gnosticism; however, they themselves held some beliefs rejected by other church fathers.
Until the discovery of the Nag Hammadi texts, early Christian writings against Gnosticism were our main source of information about gnostic belief. The overall picture of Gnosticism provided by these polemical texts has been largely confirmed by the gnostic texts found at Nag Hammadi.
Common Gnostic Beliefs
The second-century church fathers identified a set of common characteristics of gnostics. These characteristics differ by region or school of thought but provide a general picture of gnostic belief (Smith, No Longer Jews, 8–10). Our understanding of Gnosticism has grown exponentially through a close study of the Nag Hammadi Library of gnostic texts, discovered in 1945 (see Robinson, The Nag Hammadi Library in English). Acknowledging the multiplicity of gnostic beliefs represented in the Nag Hammadi Library, the following examples are merely representative of a prominent strand of gnostic belief.
God
Gnostic texts often describe God as incomprehensible, unknowable, and transcendent. For example, one text describes God as: “God and father of the all, the holy, the invisible … existing as pure light into which it is not possible for any light of the eye to gaze” (Apocryphon of John, 22:17–19 [King, 4:2]). The Apocryphon of John demonstrates the gnostic view of the nature of God when it states that it is not “fitting to think of [God] as divine or as something of the sort, for [God] is superior to deity” (Apocryphon, 33–36 [Layton, 1:29]). Thus, Gnosticism holds that God cannot be observed with our senses nor easily grasped with our understanding. Gnostic texts commonly speak of God only in negative terms, such as “the unknown God,” “the unknown Father,” “ineffable,” “unspeakable”; God is even described as “nonexistent” because he is viewed by gnostics as not existing in the usual manner of being (Foerster, Gnosis, 4). Additionally, gnostic texts commonly address God as the “Ultimate Ground of Being” (Foerster, Gnosis, 4).
Dualism and Dichotomy
For gnostics, the world was divided into the physical and spiritual realms. Gnostics held that the world was not created by the “Ultimate Ground of Being” (God), but by a lesser deity resulting from the fall of the divine personification of Wisdom (Perkins, Gnosticism, 15). This lesser deity or demiurge created the material world, which is entirely isolated from the divine realm in which the “Ultimate Ground of Being” exists (Pearson, Ancient Gnosticism, 16).
Likewise, gnostics believed that humans are split between the physical and spiritual world: “the true human self is as alien to the world as is the transcendent God” (Pearson, Ancient Gnosticism, 13). They asserted that the true human self or soul is naturally divine, belonging to the same realm as the Ultimate Ground of Being, but is trapped and imprisoned by the material world. They viewed the physical body as a prison which malevolently trapped the “divine spark” within humanity (Pearson, Ancient Gnosticism, 12–14). Because of this imprisonment, Gnosticism incorporates an active hatred of the physical body, similar to Docetism. This dualistic split between the body and the soul means that the divine spark of the human soul must be freed from the material constraints of the world in order to attain salvation and unity with the Ultimate Ground of Being.
Gnosis and Salvation
Gnostics advocated gnosis, or “revealed knowledge,” as the basis for salvation (Pearson, Gnosticism, Judaism, 7). Rather than being a philosophy, gnosis is a single revelation of the true nature of human and divine selves (Foerster, Gnosis, 1). The gnostics’ goal is to attain salvation from the fallen physical world in which they are trapped through obtaining the secret knowledge, or gnosis (Logan, The Gnostics, 63). Gnostics believed that gnosis frees the divine spark within humans, allowing it to return to the divine realm of light (Pearson, Ancient Gnosticism, 13). Gnostics likewise believed that when all elect gnostics have been restored through gnosis, the physical world will be destroyed, and the chosen humans will return to their divine state (Pearson, Ancient Gnosticism, 13–14). Salvation is thus initially brought about by gnosis, but ultimately constitutes a return of the human soul to the divine realm in which it belongs.
The gnosis which brings about salvation varies greatly within the different gnostic schools, as each group of gnostics claimed to exclusively possess the necessary knowledge (Foerster, Gnosis, 8). However, the gnosis generally took the form of a special revelation of the divine, transcendent realm to a mediatory figure who was required to spread the true knowledge of God among humanity (Pearson, Ancient Gnosticism, 12). Thus, gnosis was both a revealed knowledge of the transcendent God as the Ultimate Ground of Being and a revealed knowledge that the human soul ultimately belongs to the divine transcendent realm. This revealed knowledge frequently took the highly complex and spiritualized form of mythopoeic revelation in which gnosis involves understanding the true nature of God and the human soul as immanently divine.
Myth
The elaborate gnostic myths function, for Gnosticism, to reveal gnosis through a complex series of cosmological, anthropological, and soteriological developments. While features of gnostic mythology vary among sects, the gnostic Apocryphon of John is typical of the elaborate mythopoeic formulation. It indicates that the divine mother, Pronoia-Barbelo (“Thought” or “Foreknowledge”), was the first of the transcendent God’s created beings (Apocryphon of John 4:26–5:6 [Layton]). From the divine mother, the self-generated Christ appeared and produced four great Lights with three pairs of Aeons who embody abstract esoteric principles—Life, Grace, and Wisdom (Sophia) (King, The Secret Revelation of John, 3; Apocryphon of John, 5:10–10:4 [Layton]). Sophia wished to create a being with her own likeness, but instead produced an evil being known as the “Chief Ruler.” According to gnostic belief, the evil “Chief Ruler” was the creator God of Genesis, whose true name was Yaldabaoth (King, The Secret Revelation of John, 3–4). Yaldabaoth then stole some of the Spirit from Sophia, which he used to create Adam. The mythological system in the Apocryphon develops further in what Pearson describes as “extended commentary” on several texts from the book of Genesis to account for sin, sexual lust, and human ignorance of their divine spirit (Pearson, Ancient Gnosticism, 66). Finally, the “Spirit of Life” descends to earth to teach humans of the power of gnosis to save humanity through recognition of the divine spirit humans unknowingly possess (King, Secret Revelation of John, 4–6; Apocryphon of John, 27:31–28:29 [Layton]).

Background and purpose:
Vertebral Compression Fractures (VCFs) are commonly associated with back pain, some with numbness, tingling, or weakness. VCFs show a bimodal distribution in age. In the elderly, VCFs are usually caused by osteoporosis, while in younger patients they are often caused by serious trauma such as falls from heights or car accidents.
Materials and Methods:
1. A 39-year-old man with severe low back pain after a fall from a height of 1 M.
2. L-SPINE X-ray and T-SPINE CT scan were performed on 01/08/2023.
3. T-L spine MRI scan was performed on the same day to exclude ligament and spinal cord injury.
Results:
L-spine lateral X-ray and non-contrast T-spine CT showed a compression fracture with more than 50% morphological change in T-12 (Fig. A, B). T-L spine MRI T2 and T2 STIR sagittal view showed acute bone edema in the high signal area (Fig. C, D). T-12 vertebral body rupture is seen in CT axial view (Fig. E). MRI of the T-L spine showed a low-signal lesion in the T1 axial acute bone marrow edema (Fig. F) and a high-signal lesion in the T2 axial acute bone marrow edema (Fig. G). The MRI scan excluded conditions such as anterior ligament and spinal cord injury.
Discussion and Conclusion:
VCFs can be divided into three categories: wedge, biconcave, and crush. Wedge fractures are the most common, accounting for more than 50% of all VCFs. In this case, a wedge-shaped VCF, caused by a fall from a height, resulted in a biomechanical failure of the bone and was characterized by a change in vertebral body shape on X-ray and CT clinical images. By definition, VCFs damage the anterior column of the spine, resulting in damage to the anterior half of the vertebral body and the anterior longitudinal ligament (ALL). Nowadays, the use of MRI scanning technology can help patients with this type of trauma to evaluate the ligaments and spinal cord for damage and prognosis in a timely manner.
