Bio

Born and raised in Germany, a love of words and a thirst for knowledge were instilled in me by my parents, both of them educators.

At nine years of age, I fell in love with the English language, and I knew then that I would one day live in the United States. I made that move at age 23, and in the three decades since, I have acquired a supposedly PhD-level vocabulary, while my accent has gone from "heavy" to merely "charming," at least in the subjective judgment of Mrs. Jacobs (who is a native Oregonian).

My interest in and understanding of texts in psychology and law give me an edge in those fields, but I always welcome a challenge to go outside of my comfort zone, as I did once, for example, translating a collection of very old Danish laws into 18th-century English.

During my spare time, I like to hone my Frisbee and boomerang skills, in the wide-open spaces of Yamhill County, Oregon (USA).

**********************************
