shutoff valve

credo che la valvola di esclusione serva a sezionare il modulo idrico;
mi baso sull'esperienza appena conclusa di traduzione dall'inglese di un manuale per camera di lavaggio/disinfezione.

It's a good point. I have found the above references with mentions of the expression by means of a Google search. Since you are more experienced, it might be helpful if you could give them a quick look and confirm your view. Thanks.

bypass valves

Hi
It's not that I want to be awkward. It's more that I was born awkward and no amount of trick cyclists or docs have been able to do anything about it thus far!
Shutoff valve is standard terminology, I would suggest, for "valvola di intercettazione" (if that's how it's spelled), but in Sergio's application, the valvole (presumably two) are perhaps positioned upline and downline of the system or device, and are charged with the task of "excluding" it from the circuit when it is not required. If this is the case, I would define them as "bypass valves".
Respect and eternal youthfulness,
Derek
