I ran a 768-word file converted into Word through Practicount, and it gave me a figure of 868.

After tinkering with the boxes that Word generally does not count, I ran it through Practicount again and the text had come up to 1646. (I was really wondering if the difference was that small, there was a considerable amount of boxed text).

So OK, I'm charging that to experience (I work faster than I can manually count and am not willing to lose time on it). But is there really a failsafe tool for this sort of situation?

Note 1: Converted files containing text boxes may have overlapping and/or badly converted boxes. I'm supposing this could lead counting tools like Practicount to error.

Note 2: What surprises me is the fact that after I had altered the boxes, Practicount practically did an about-face and began to count them.

Nigel, Anycount gave me 740.

Any way of evaluating Finecount without giving those passwords, esperantisto?

Which passwords? May 13, 2009

You can test after just installing the program. If you wish to continue using FineCount, you have to register it.

No idea if this will be any better but it's what I use. Good luck.
