I think it is a typo of 陥没(kanbotsu- fall,sink,cave in)

Hey, VN finally got an answer from you. thank you! It could well possibly be. I typed this from a very , very bad PDF'ed copy. Let's wait a liitle longer and see. Do you think my "降起する” I posted earlier could be "陥起する"?

neutral Minoru Kuwahara : not knowing any other information, we could only guess, but it should be probabaly 陥没 whose opposite term is 隆起. from these, i may envisage some geological context. -
