Japanese term
併入
Japanese to English
Tech/Engineering
Engineering: Industrial
Example sentence: GT1は金曜日に初併入。あまりにもあっけなく併入、一時間後に解列した。
Context:「併入」comes up often in a weekly report about a gas turbine construction project. (GT=gas turbine. There's a few GTs involved, hence "GT1")
My speculation: I believe it is refering to connecting one part (of a machine?) to another part. (Possibly a pipe?). One website translated the whole phrase「系統併入比率」as one word: "penetration". However, I am unable to confirm that this will work in my sentence, or that it is even correct.
My guess translation: "GT1 was initially connected on Friday. However, the connection went all too easily and it paralleled off after one hour."
Note: I am extremely unsure about my translation and would appreciate any help as to how the word is usually handled in English in the industry.

Comment: "Thank you very much! Although I didn't use the translation you offered (I used the translation offered in the Honyaku archives), the 2 references you gave were EXTREMELY helpful! I had actually searched the Honyaku archives for 併入 but could not find it(it turns out I need to use a space between the 2 characters or use romaji). So I am extremely grateful that you found it for me. And the Japanese definition in Tohoku-epco is just the confirmation I need. Once again, I am very grateful because I had been looking for about 2-3 hours for that one word and was getting nowhere. Thank you!"

fit, fit together, connect
It is hard to say exactly without knowing more about the apparatus, but I have frequently dealt with situations of pipes and/or plastic hoses, etc. that are fit together, and if it is talking about 2 pipes or a pipe fitting into a hole on a machine, etc., to me 併入 sounds like it could be "fit" or "fit together" or "connect".
