: although I agree with the shu-shu-po-po steam train analogy, this is probably more suitable for your translation (conejo-san).

Popping sound
シュhas sucking sound but ポ is the popping sound. 摩擦音and 破裂音, it depends on which you focus. I think the popping or "bang" may be more appropriate for initial sound when throttle is pushed. It is a small bang.
