This is something connected to a trout in a painting. It comes from a description of a particular painting:
The text is Austrian and an Austrian friend, born in the area this comes from, has no idea. Google throws up nothing. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

: Well done! This is probably it. It gets almost no hits, and those I did find were 19th century.

Salmo schiefermuelleri is a designation for populations of trout in some subalpine lakes of Austria, whose taxonomical status is however unclear and which are suspected to be extinct.

The same as the S. illanca and Schiefermulleri of Bloch. It is found in the lakes of Lower Austria, and in the Rhine above Constance.
Brown trout:
Salmo lacustris was used for lake-dwelling forms.[5]
S. t. lacustris reaches an average length of 40–80 cm (16–31 in) with a maximum length of 140 cm (55 in) and about 60 pounds (27 kg)

Discussion

The fact that it gets no Google hits suggests it may be a mistake, or perhaps something got lost in translation if the painting is from a non-German-speaking country. If you tell us the name of the picture and the artist, that may provide a clue.
