Kreditkarte In English, the term 'credit card' seems to be used in the generic sense of payment by plastic (i.e. credit OR debit). Are Germans as loose in their usage, I wonder?

@Kolega team Where did you come across this expression? Maybe some more context would help.
In T&E, credit cards are the choice of payment. Hotels and other businesses don't like them because of the high fees the credit card organizations charge.

If the cards aren't accepted at all: No credit cards accepted.

Have you ever tried to hire a car ... ... and offered them a debit card? They insist on you using a credit card so that you can't block penalty payments afterwards. I have never experienced this with a hotel though.
