German term

Alpenkolorit

German to English Art/Literary Music
This word is used to describe the way a composer sets the "Ranz des vaches" and other folktune in an instrumental piece, to arouse a particular rural atmosphere.
e.g. "Der zweite Satz schliesst mit einem Motiv im Alpenkolorit."
or: "Alpenkolorit und bukolische Elemente ziehen sich als Zeugen der damaligen Zeit wie ein roter Faden durch die Werke."

Any creative suggestions?

an alpine mood

Since this is about colour, maybe mood would do for both of your sentences:

...with a motif in an alpine mood

An alpine mood and bucolic elements....

Music for the Alps
Searching for a piece of music to get you in an "alpine mood?" Try Eine Alpensinfonie op. 64 by Richard Strauss. This music evokes the beauty of the Alpine Range, and there are many recordings. One good recording is on Deutsche Grammophon (400 039-2), Herbert Von Karajan conducting the Berlin Philharmonic.

An alpine theme

"kolorit" is an alliteration of the overall color impression a picture leaves one with; which is to say, its overall color theme, or palette. Musically speaking, one could call it a theme or motif -- but Motiv is already being used in one of the German sentences, which is why I would suggest using the word theme, which would work in both contextual examples that you give.
Example sentence:

Alpine themes render a lyrical, bucolic element to the musical composition

Alpine ambience

The opening track, "Overture", is typical - a spiralling descent through clouds into a weightless Alpine ambience, gradually warmed by a slowly looming sunrise.

In Luisa Miller the Alpine ambience is an important element of the opera's tinta, joining with certain recurring shapes (in this case as much rhythmic ideas as melodic ones) to give the work a pronounced individuality.

Alpine coloration

Perhaps it is better to stick to musical terms -- "coloration" being a style of florid ornamentation in music (like "coloratura" to describe a certain type of singing, but "coloration" can be instrumental). I am not familiar with this particular piece of music -- does it contain lots of ornamental twiddly bits?
