German term

Stecker

German to English Tech/Engineering Furniture / Household Appliances baby safety
Proz has many queries for Stecker but none clarified my text.

'reer' is a manufacturer that should be 'Reer', but twice now in the text it has been presented ee cummings-style (so irritating).

"In Erweiterung seines Sicherheitssortiments präsentiert reer eine „Bauart-geprüfte“ Steckdosenkappe, die in nahezu jede Steckdose passt und sich bei Bedarf mit jedem Stecker wieder entfernen lässt.

This concerns a safety cap to keep babies from sticking their fingers into a socket. I don't understand what 'mit jedem Stecker' is doing here..... Is it related to the existence, in Germany, of different types of plugs, as I understand from the Proz queries? Three-pronged, four-pronged, five-pronged? If so, I don't see how it's relevant as what is covered is the socket itself regardless of the shape or form of the prongs...

(any) plug (see below)

bedeutet, dass die Kappen nur mit einem (jedem beliebigen)Stecker entfernt werden können. ich denk mir man steckt den Stecker in die Kappe und zieht die Kappe dann heraus.

Note from asker:
Aha. One takes up the plug and uses it to pry off the protective cap by sticking the two prongs in the recessed groove on the tip of the cap (as illustrated at that link) and - twisting it off... Many thanks!

Comment: "It's obvious now and it's exactly what the German says; I was thinking too much and in the wrong direction (of 'safety' and how the 'action' could possibly be related to safety, when it was actually only conveying the ease with which the cap could be removed."
