German term

Austonnung

German to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Labelling (construction)
Term related to cable laying at sea. Refers to signs/labels - I think.

Discussion

John Taylor (asker) Mar 17, 2011:
Lack of context = part of the problem! As is often the case, the most difficult terms are those without a context - as here, I'm afraid. It comes up as a note referring to something else. It may refer to the signs/labels for an offshore construction site - or even to ship markings.
Richard Stephen Mar 17, 2011:
Context Please give us the entire sentence where this word appears - or even better the entire paragraph.

setting a system of buoyage

*Tonne* is another term for *Boje* or *Seezeichen*, Austonnung is the act of installing them.
