German term

potentialverbunden

German to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Systems, Networks no context
if "potentialgetrennt" is "isolated" - as it appears at first in the text, can "potentialverbunden" be translated as "connected" ??

No additional context, unfortunately

Thanks in advance

Discussion

muttersprachler Apr 27, 2006:
Of course the above is "bias decoupled". It means just the opposite.
muttersprachler Apr 27, 2006:
It does mean: There is an electrical connection (so you can pass signals) but there is no connection for bias. There is no need to keep the connected components on same potentitial. You don't need to care about earth loops.
Ken Cox Apr 27, 2006:
With Brie (but given the context and the presence of 'potentialgetrennt', it probably means 'electrically connected' -- and 'potentailgetrennt' means 'electrically isolated').
Brie Vernier Apr 27, 2006:
I doubt that a definitive answer is possible here without context, Colette. Just what is it that is "potentialgetrennt" or "potentialverbunden"?
