German term

Zeugnis

German to English Social Sciences Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs
I read all of the entries in the OpenTerm Search but didn't find a translation of "Zeugnis" into UK English.

What I am translating is a "Zeugnis über die Diplomprüfung für Dolmetscher" which contains all the relevant examinations, the diploma thesis and the supplementary field as well as the respective marks. Thus, it is not the "Diplomurkunde", i.e. the Certificate.

TIA, Mel

Discussion

BrigitteHilgner Jul 21, 2006:
Stephen Sadie Jul 21, 2006:
das ist einfach...hier wird learning by doing und nicht learning by studying praktiziert, liebe mellie
Melanie Michael (asker) Jul 21, 2006:
rainerc (X) Jul 21, 2006:
Das ist natürlich gaaaanz was anderes :-)
Melanie Michael (asker) Jul 21, 2006:
Oops. I didn't mean it includes the thesis and everything else, it contains the MARK of the thesis and all other exams that add up to the final mark of the Diplomprüfung.
Helen Veitch Jul 21, 2006:
Do you mean that this is a single certificate (?) which gives a breakdown of marks for the exams, thesis, etc, or is it more like a portfolio of all the work completed, i.e. includes a copy of the thesis, etc?

neutral David Moore (X) : This really doesn't fit, AFAICS...

neutral Sabine Griebler : AFAIK transcript is used in the US

agree John Bowden : My (UK) university "student portal" gives a "Student Transcript" for each student, showing all the student's marks in each module - certainly not only Us usage.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you, Rainer and John for getting me on the right track. Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh states exactly the same on their website, and the transcript will be presented to them. "

This is one of tose terms with "thousands" of nuances and meanings. One of these may well work..

documentation

Perhaps this would fit the bill, as it seems you are not looking for the name of one particular document, but a term which would include transcripts, examination results, a thesis, etc.

if this degree has been awarded here by an university or a German "Fachhochschule" I would suggest here the above mentioned term
