Es geht um die Unterscheidung verschiedener Düfte bei Kamelien (was sehr selten ist). Es werden drei Gruppen von Düften unterschieden:
"Honigdüfte: durch Kreuzungen mit C. lutchuensis.
Süße Düfte: durch Kreuzungen mit anderen Wildarten, z. B. mit C. fraterna,
Orientalische Düfte: in Sorten von C. sasanqua oder Kreuzungen mit ihr.
Sowohl die Honigdüfte als auch die Süßen Düfte können würzige Nuancen wie Zimt oder Anis, ***blumige*** wie Hyazinthen, Freesien oder Osmanthus und fruchtige wie Zitrone enthalten."
