Selected

Accept, Sir, the assurances of our/my highest esteem and consideration.

This is a diplomatic formula used by the U.S. State Department. I provided background on this same question in Spanish, which was accepted as the correct answer.

Sincerely

This is a typical salutation formula of romance countries. Don't translate it. If you want to be really old fashioned, use "Sincerely". Today, you'd normally put "Best regards".

BTW: I\'m German, not English, so this needs to be confirmed by one of our British, Irish, American, Canadian etc. colleagues.

Yours faithfully

This is indeed just formal boilerplate for the end of a letter, and not to be translated. Yours faithfully is the most formal signing off in (British) English; Yours sincerely is slightly less formal.
Peer comment(s):

agree Doris Cook : In the US: "Yours truly" (and less formal would be "yours sincerely").

If you want to retain this very respectful tone....

You can write the following, widely used expression (in very formal documents). There are over 9,000 Google hits for that expression:
"Accept, (dear so-and-so), assurances of my highest consideration"
