I normally post on Facebook about my weekend activities and only very rarely during the week if I have something exceptionally interesting to say that is work related.

I post regularly on the FB pages that I manage for professional organisations, and try to put something up every couple of weeks on my own page too - to keep my friends engaged.

Near the bottom of Cinzia's ProZ.com profile page, she lists three contact methods, namely LinkedIn, Instagram and Skype. Some would consider these to be "social media" platforms, but for Cinzia they are merely methods of making contact with her for offering her a job, alongside sending a letter, picking up the phone or knocking.

I'm irregular but when I com across a good piece of news or something that strikes me, I post it on Twitter and LinkedIn but I tend not to keep it up.

I mean I'm not one to post on Instagram or Facebook at all but I do participate in discussions on FB when people ask and want help or to show my opinion but as for posting, I hardly ever post on my personal page but I do like to interact with people on various topics but not constantly.

The responses to this poll have made me curious if this is age-related or if translators are that anti-social
I'm in my thirties and I post on Instagram and FB almost daily. It varies, of course, sometimes I have very boring weeks.

I've come to believe that things should not be classified by age but by person types. I do not post on FB daily but I do participate almost daily when I'm not caught up in some work and too busy-and I'm not in my thirties.

I don't know anyone who thinks it's cool. It's just a means of communication, just like posting on this forum.

I don't care about any strangers making stupid comments, I do not throw the word "friend" around easily, I am very social with those I love and need, and with my clients and audience at work, I am not a hermit. I've never lost contact with any of my friends of 40-50 years! by email, phone, Skype or WhatsApp. all over the world, I don't care how well and with what color someone's bundle of joy pooped an hour ago, or what new diet some guru had invented.
Yes, at my age I am terrified by how people lose human social skills, using and abusing social media. They don't even understand, how ill-bred and disrespectful they look and act, sticking their noses into their gadgets when live people are around and ready to socialize. I mean, say, guests of the same events. I'm puzzled, why do they crawl out of their caves at all. I see specialists in the toddler age, doing the same during technical meetings, and not for searching for references or documents!

I access FB every day and participate in the discussions in the Translators Groups (six of them). I do not participate in other groups or in the main feed. I usually do not post anything serious because, whatever the topic is, it will end up in arguments and offenses. So I try to help people who ask for help, and I moderate a site for that specific purpose, and I make comments on the posts meant to either help or entertain, period. When a snowflake shows up, the discussion is over for me.
