I did not agree with a single insult.
If you look carefully, you'll see that my "Agree" referred to the arguments being made, not to the abusive language.

We spend our careers helping people communicate across languages and cultures.
And we carefully choose our words to avoid misunderstandings, build bridges and facilitate dialogue.
So why are we communicating like this with each other?
I don't know most of you personally, but I genuinely don't like seeing colleagues treat one another this way.
Whatever our opinions on AI, the industry, or even each other's sense of humour, personal insults don't reflect well on any of us or on our profession.
Let's all calm down and get back to discussing ideas rather than insulting one another.

I guess the translation industry (as was) would naturally attract its fair share of people on the spectrum who lack a sense of humour and can’t let things go.

There are also those blinded by national/tribal politics and sensitivities to the point where they lose their sense of humour.

And out and out trolls from the Emerald Isle who draw on the Trump/Farage playbook of spending years creating a hostile environment and then crying to mummy as soon as it bites them back.

And then there are the ex-translators who don’t give a **** and enjoy poking bears in the odd moment they have nothing better to do. They might not always hit the mark with their humour, but they are, and will always be, by far the coolest of the bunch.

You're right about one thing: I'm probably not aware of the full context. I don't spend nearly as much time on ProZ as I used to, so it's entirely possible that I've missed many of the previous exchanges.
That said, your reply also made me think about how easily tone can be interpreted differently by different people.
For example, I could have interpreted "You're missing the point" as rather blunt, but that doesn't necessarily mean that this was your intention.
In the same way, I can only say how Baran's comments came across to me, just as you can say how they came across to you.
To me, his comments came across more as teasing than as genuine hostility. But that's simply my perception, and I appreciate that yours is different. I can't speak for him or know what his actual intentions were.
