I am trying to familiarize myself with Subtitle Workshop 6.0b. I have downloaded it, as well as YouTube videos via 4K Video Downloader, which I had hoped to then import into the popular subtitle editor; however, when I try to import one of my chosen YouTube videos into Subtitle Workshop, I receive the same message everytime: ".... is not a valid video file."

Why don't you try Subtitle Edit? Jul 11, 2020

I have used Subtitle Edit for a long time and I love it. It works really well. And all these free subtitle software are pretty much the same.

If you insist on Subtitle Workshop, I found a thread here on Subtitle Workshop forum that might be able to help. Apparently, you should download the 6.0e version and download VLC 32-bit. What is a good link to Subtitle Edit? Jul 11, 2020

At your suggestion, I will try Subtitle Edit instead of Subtitle Workshop. Could you provide me with the link you used to download Subtitle Edit to your computer? The couple of links that I just tried were blocked by my anti-malware protection.

Secondly, does Subtitle Edit allow me to easily import YouTube videos that I have downloaded via 4K Video Downloader?

Hi Karen,

Maybe you should turn off your anti-malware while you download and install Subtitle Edit.

To be honest, I have never downloaded videos from Youtube with 4K Video Downloader before but I know that Subtitle Edit works well with mp4 and mkv video formats. Clients have sent me mp4 formats and everything works fine. But it probably is because I have K-lite Codec pack installed on my computer.
