Source text - Dutch Met Rembrandt als belangrijkste trendsetter. Geboren als zoon van een molenaar in Leiden in 1606, kwam hij op 26-jarige leeftijd naar Amsterdam waar hij onze belangrijkste 17de eeuwse schilder werd. Rembrandt kocht een heel duur huis in de toenmalige Jodenbuurt (dat is nu Museum het Rembrandthuis), waar hij ging wonen en zijn beroemdste werk schilderde: de Nachtwacht. En hij trouwde met zijn grote liefde Saskia. Hij verdiende veel maar gaf nóg meer uit.
Translation - Spanish Rembrandt es el más importante de esta nueva tendencia. Nació en Leiden en 1606, hijo de un molinero. A los 26 años, llegó a Ámsterdam, donde se convirtió en nuestro pintor más importante del siglo 17. Rembrandt se compró una casa muy cara en el entonces barrio judío -(lo que hoy en día es el Museo de Rembrandt). Ahí vivió y pinto su obra más famosa: La Ronda de Noche. Se casó con su gran amor, Saskia. Ganaba mucho dinero, pero se gastaba aún más.

Source text - English Walking in the woods is one of my favourite things to do. There is something truly magical about a tightly packed forest of trees. It’s almost like walking along a bustling street in Manhattan - so alive are the soaring trees with insects and birds, reptiles and rodents - and yet at the same time you feel utterly soothed by the tranquil sensation of calm which only nature can provide. When the light filters through the leaves and hits the forest floor, the fractured illumination is like a disco without sound. It can be dazzling, disorientating, mesmerising. There is nothing quite like getting lost in a vast natural hallway of trees. There is always something new to discover, to enchant the mind.
Translation - Spanish Pasear por el bosque es uno de mis pasatiempos favoritos. Hay algo mágico en aquel entorno en el que las ramas y las hojas de los árboles forman una armoniosa cubierta. Es casi como caminar por las bulliciosas calles de Manhattan, así de vivos están los árboles, habitados por insectos, pájaros, reptiles y roedores, aunque a la vez te invaden la tranquilidad y la calma de la naturaleza que hacen que te sientas totalmente reconfortado. Cuando la luz pasa a través de las hojas y toca el suelo, la iluminación se fractura y se asemeja a la de una discoteca, pero sin sonido. A veces resplandece, otras veces desorienta, y en ocasiones incluso hipnotiza. No hay nada como perderse por los vastos túneles que forman los árboles. Siempre hay algo nuevo por descubrir, algo nuevo que pueda fascinar a la mente.

My name is Dominique Schotten. Having grown up as in a bilingual home made my love languages and their cultures from a very early. I loved translating the lyrics of my favorite songs so I could understand what they said. And being at school, I always thought translating Latin was like unpacking a new gift, I was very anxious to know what each sentence meant. No wonder I decided to study Translation and Interpreting when I finished high school.
Since then I've combined my passion with other jobs, but since I've become a mum, I dedicate my time to my beautiful girl and the translation of documents. I'm finally doing what I've always wanted to do, eliminate barriers and help people to understand each other.
